Intelligence Exchange - Are we encouraging economic growth in healthcare?

Oct 24. till Oct 24.

Invitation Only Event

Host: Rebecca Harris MP

Guest Speaker: David Gauke MP, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury

Leaders in the field who understand the important relationship between the wider healthcare sector and the economy are being invited to attend this round-table. The Prime Minister said last December that “We’ve got to change the way we innovate, the way that we collaborate, and the way that we open up the NHS... life sciences (are) so important: that virtuous circle of health, well-being and wealth.” Investment in research was acknowledged as hugely important to the economy, but what about investment in independent healthcare and those providers who are more likely to innovate early?

This event heard the Treasury Minister’s thoughts on whether we are doing enough for the wider healthcare sector in the UK to ensure ongoing investment, and from participants on where we are now and what more needs to be done.
