Following her retirement from the role of Chief Executive of the British Lung Foundation Helena took on a portfolio combining Chairman of 20/20health, a non-executive director of the National House Building Council, chairing the Consumer Committee, and as a trustee of the charity Independent Age. She has now left all these roles but remains Chair of 20/20health’s advisory group.
Earlier in her career Helena worked extensively in the public and charity sector in the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux, the Audit Commission, the Local Government Commission for England, the Competition Commission, the Better Regulation Task Force and the National Lottery Commission. All of these appointments were at board level.
Helena has an MBA from Strathclyde Business School, is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute and was the first non-medic to be awarded the British Thoracic Society Medal in 2011.
